The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 edition takes place in Australia from February 21. The latest edition of the biennial tournament will see 10 national teams competing for the coveted Women’s World T20 championship. 8 teams automatically qualified for the tournament based on their positions from the 2018 edition. Bangladesh & Thailand come into the tournament based on their performances in the tournament qualifiers.

10. Chanida Sutthiruang (Thailand)
In Thailand’s run to their maiden T20 World Cup, Chanida Sutthiruang played a major part in the qualifiers. She finished the qualifiers as the leading wicket-taker with 12 scalps in 5 matches with an economy rate just over 4.
Chanida was also named ICC’s emerging player of the year in December 2019. The 26-year old seamer took 6 wickets in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup and also has 42 wickets in 35 T20Is at an average of 8.73.
9. Deandra Dottin (West Indies)
One of the only three centurions in women’s T20 World Cups, Deandra Dottin returns to the side after a long injury break. Before her injury, Dottin had shone in the domestic T20 scene, leading Barbados to a title win with 222 runs at a strike rate of 179.03.
In the last two T20 World Cups, Dottin was the joint leading wicket-taker with 9 wickets at 13.55 in 2016 and 10 wickets at 7.7 in the 2018 edition. She has 59 wickets in T20 internationals with 26 of those coming in T20 World Cups.
8. Fargana Hoque (Bangladesh)
One of only two Bangladesh women cricketers to hit a T20I century, Fargana Hoque is Bangladesh’s leading run-scorer ever in the format with 949 runs spanning a 7-year career.
Last year, she led a brilliant win for Bangladesh Women over their Pakistan counterparts in an ODI. Chasing 211, Fargana smashed 67 off 97 balls giving Bangladesh Women a steady start for a 1 wicket win to level a tight series.
7. Suzie Bates (New Zealand)
Suzie Bates is a popular name in the Women’s cricket circuit and also plays in the Women’s Big Bash. She is the highest all-time run-scorer in Women’s T20 International cricket with 3195 runs at an average of 31.1.
Her medium pace bowling further adds more value to her package as a cricket player. Bates has 49 T20 International wickets from a rather long international career of 14 years and is an all-rounder of the highest quality.
6. Chloe Tyron (South Africa)
The Proteas Vice-Captain is a proper middle-order batsman and is a hard hitter in T20s. Tyron has a strike rate of 132.6 in T20 World Cups and 139.21 in all international T20Is.
Chloe Tyron’s 248 runs in the recent Women’s Big Bash did not set the run-scoring charts ringing, but at the rate which it came – 178.41 makes her a proper basher and a key player for South Africa.
5. Javeria Khan (Pakistan)
Pakistan’s second-highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals, Javeria Khan has 1744 runs – next to only Bismah Maroof – at an average of 21.8 including eight half-centuries.
Javeria was an influential batter for Pakistan in the 2018 edition of the T20 World Cup scoring 136 runs in 4 matches at an average of 45.33.
4. Chamari Atapattu (Sri Lanka)
Sri Lankan skipper and most experienced player Chamari Atapattu was one of the biggest stars in Sri Lanka’s 3 match ODI series in Australia in September 2019. She slammed 2 centuries against Australia’s famed bowling attack, first was a 113 and the second one a 103 of 124 balls in the 3rd ODI in Brisbane.
Atapattu is a handy medium pace bowler as well with 24 wickets in her T20 international career.
3. Ellyse Perry (Australia)
Undoubtedly the greatest Women’s cricketer ever, Ellyse Perry is a proper star in a galaxy of superb players and a complete athlete too. She is the highest run-scorer ever in the history of the Women’s Big Bash with 2612 runs at an average of 53.30 and the second-highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20 Internationals with 113 wickets at 18.97.
Perry top-scored in the 2018/19 edition of the Women’s Big Bash with 777 runs at an average of 86.33 with two centuries and six half-centuries, remaining unbeaten in seven of the 16 innings she batted.
2. Danielle Wyatt (England)
Danielle Wyatt finished as the highest run-getter in the 2019 edition of the KIA Super League in England. She scored 466 runs at an average 42.36 and an impressive strike-rate of 166.42.
Aside from shining in the Kia Super League, Wyatt showed her form in the Women’s Big Bash too, making 468 runs in 14 matches for Melbourne Renegades Women at an average of 39.
1. Smriti Mandhana (India)
Since the start of 2019, Smriti Mandhana has 621 runs in 19 innings at an average of 34.5 with six half-centuries. Her tally of runs is the most by any women’s cricket player during this phase.
She was in impressive form in the recent tri-series with England and Australia in the mix, scoring 216 runs at an average of 43.2. She had a decent Women’s Big Bash with Hobart Hurricanes in 2018 finishing in the top 20 run-getters list with the 2nd best strike-rate of 144.54. It is safe to say that she is the biggest star of India’s Women’s cricket team going into the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020.
